I didn't get done half of what I needed to, but I can stop at the UPS Store on my way home to send out

The Mom and I are planning a shopping expedition this weekend. We're going to the bead store and the Harley Davidson outfitter.
What? I needs beads and boots.
The IT guys here replaced my CD-ROM, thank the good lord. I've been without music since Monday. Doing this job is bad enough, but without some form of musical distraction, it's been deadly.
I wish working here wasn't quite so much like kissing The Man's ass for several reasons:
1. I'd pierce my eyebrow.
2. When I dyed my hair black this past weekend, I would have bleached out sections and colored them pink.
3. We could wear jeans on Fridays.
4. I wouldn't be forced to complete a work record daily detailing how I spent my time. I need to write fic, dammit.
A lunch of guacamole Doritos, M&M's and diet Coke doesn't really do much for digestive calmness.
I need to expand my musical horizons and, since I am a total LJ sheep, I want you to suggest artists/songs/CD's I must listen to.
Help a girl out...

I think everybody in the world should be listening to Jimmy Eat World. And The New Pornographers. And Brian Kennedy, not that you can buy his music in the U.S. or ever find any mp3s. Van Morrison. People don't listen to him enough either.
Truer words have never been spoken. And it's super lame because 90% of the time, I'm operating at >100%. Of course yesterday, I was at 60%, but I jimmied that.
And if you like punk music, you should try Me First and the Gimme Gimmies. They do punk covers of non-punk songs. Their album It's a Drag is all songs from musicals. A punk version of "Somewhere over the Rainbow" and "The Rainbow Connection" are included. No I am not kidding. It's *glorious*.
