I realized that after the discussion on zsenya's LJ the other day, some people might want to see what I've been up to with my spindles and spinning wheel.

Though I continue to resist your fiendish attempts to lure me into the world of the SCA, I have totally fallen to the idea of natural dyeing.

How can anyone resist something with a history like this and where you can do cool shit like this?

Before you spend another weekend spinning, plying, and skeining over 400 yds of merino (or any yarn for that matter), GET A BETTER SPINNING CHAIR.

So I have birthday money (specifically earmarked by the givers for wool) and money from my temp part time job that is crying out to be spent on spinning fiber. But there are so many options!

Do I get some superwash and spin up some sock yarn?

Do I buy the luscious looking ingeo/wool mix?

Do I buy more white wool? Or branch out into brown? Or *gasp* pre-dyed?

The other day, I was blindsided by the desire to start spinning my own yarn. So today, I went out and purchased a Schacht drop spindle and roving from my local yarn shop.

Of course, my first spindle of yarn is not the prettiest thing ever:

I'm planning on plying the two colors together when they're both spun up.

I totally want a spinning wheel now.
