The other day, I was blindsided by the desire to start spinning my own yarn. So today, I went out and purchased a Schacht drop spindle and roving from my local yarn shop.
Of course, my first spindle of yarn is not the prettiest thing ever:
I'm planning on plying the two colors together when they're both spun up.
Hand... carders? Okay, I don't know what that means but you used an exclamation point so I am uber excited about it! YAY! You should totally get one! I support that 100%.

Hand carders are wire brushes, sort of like dog brushes. You brush out the washed wool so that it's all nice and smooth.
This is one of the wheels I'm thinking about. I need to spin on it before deciding, but I'm probably getting this style since it takes up less room than the traditional style.
