Schachenmayr Extra superwash, to be exact, 50g/125m per ball.
Now, being, well, me, I totally flubbed the meters to yards conversion and bought at least three too few balls of the dark green. I discovered this when I started knitting them last Thursday (using size 0 dpns and I'm getting a thick, gorgeous 10 sts/inch). I thought to myself, "Self, just get yourself back over to 3 Kittens Yarn and pick up another couple of balls."
Well, 3 Kittens no longer carries it.
Neither does Borealis Yarn, The Yarnery, or any other place in the Twin Cities ( I do still need to check Needlework Unlimited, but will probably call since I don't want to drive all the way out to 44th and Drew).
No one on the knitty.com swap board has any.
The only place on the internet that even lists it only sells it by the bag (10 balls for $65).
I bought a couple skeins of an alternate yarn (Dale of Norway Baby Ull) to try out and it's a finer yarn and slightly silkier so I'm not getting the dense fabric or the really awesome stitch definition I am with the Schachenmayr. However, the Baby Ull is pretty easily available.
I can't decide if the Schachenmayr is actually that much better or if I've just convinced myself of its awesome since that was the one I started with.
