My desk is right next to one of my bookshelves, so I just stuck my hand out and pulled a book:
"But stars in spiral galaxies orbit too quickly to be held in orbit by the mere gravitational attraction of the other stars we can see. The actual mass of the galaxies must be nearer 10 percent of the critical density, and they must contain a halo of dark matter much wider than the visible galaxy. On the larger scales of clusters and superclusters of galaxies, their relative motions imply even more dark matter. The average denisty of the universeis known to be delicately balanced between so little that it would cease to hold things in place and so much that the whole thing would collapse."
I hate tagging people, so if you haven't done this, DO IT.
