
Basically, big telecom companies like AT&T want to be able to control the speed at which pages load on the Net. So, if LJ isn't paying a premium to a telecom company, all LJ sites would load more slowly than if they were paying.
It's a shitty, shitty big business attempt to horn in on the free and easy trade of information and, as per usual, Congress is ready to roll over and take it from said big business unless everyone makes it known how unacceptable this is.
So, go. Call your congressperson. I already have. It's easy. It takes less than a minute.
Tell the telecom companies where to shove it.
