Hello, LJ & DW! Yet again I have neglected you, but today! Today I bring glorious (?) meta for your delictation!

It's disjointed and a little scattered, but whatevs!

Jeremy Renner likes to do one thing a day that scares him. I AM TERRIFYING. JUST SAYING. )

And that's it for now. I will update this post as new meta comes to me. Also, I guess could take some requests if anyone wants me to wander about on a topic.

Until CON*vergence.

I have decided on my concept for our group costume this year and ordered fabric and fabric dye from Dharma Trading since I couldn't find anything I liked in the stores.

best intentions and all...

So I haven't done all that well with my resolution to post more. I have no excuse other than extreme laziness.

Frankly it's only going to get worse since a) my copy of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning will be arriving early next week along with b) my copies of Mass Effect 1 & 2 in preparation for the release of c) Mass Effect 3. Also d) we've already begun initial preparation for our group costume for CON*vergence this July.

We decided on Fairy Tale Sith for our group costume, so there's been quite a bit of brainstorming and concept wrangling. I thought I had my concept cemented and was smug with my plan to "get better at buying things" then I started looking at images and patterns and yeah. I've got some sewing to do.

I picked Little Red Riding Hood and am going to be relying heavily on the visuals from the recent movie starring Plate Face. The movie might not have been very good, but it was visually stunning.

As a group, we're wrangling about what sort of lightsaber replicas we want to use. The really awesome one, the ultimate FX ones, don't retract, so that seems to be asking for trouble and/or breakage when one of my other utility belt items will be a flask. On the other hand, most of the retractable ones look totally cheap jack and I hate that.

Is a real, affordable lightsaber so much to ask, science?

What else... As you all saw, I finally finished the story that ate my life for like 10 months. I'm not sure if I've ever worked on a story for that long, but I feel sort of adrift now, like I'm forgetting to do something now that I don't have to work on it.

I've been poking through my unfinished story file on googledocs, trying to pick what to work on next. I know [personal profile] duckduck would like me to work on the CSI:Miami/Sports Night story. And I just found some handwritten notes for the Saved by the Bell/Doogie Howser story that reminded me how much I love that crack addled bullshit.

We'll see.

Ten months and 47K words later, this story is DONE.

Gift of Asylum (47183 words) by faviconcarleton97, faviconSister_Wolf

Fandom: Thor (2011), Captain America (2011), The Avengers (2012)
Rating: Explicit
Warning: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Clint Barton/Darcy Lewis, Pepper Potts/Tony Stark, Jane Foster/Thor, Fandral/Hogun, Natasha Romanov/Steve Rogers

Summary:

The story of how Darcy Lewis accidentally helps found the Avengers while having an epic, failboaty romance with that dude she nailed in a bar two years ago. Tasers, jackbooted thugs, Tony Stark, and life-altering job offers are par for the course when you help discover an alien/god dude with amazing pecs.

Hello internets!

It has been.... fuck knows how long since my last update.

My life, she is boring.

Pretty much all I've been doing since, jeez, last summer is working and writing the epic Darcy/Clint movieverse Avengers story A and I started on the thor kink meme.

I am a ridiculous person.

I am gearing up, though, for my yearly resolution to post more. 2011 was especially egregious for non posting for me. I'd like to post, if not once a week, at least 2x a month. I think that's a doable goal.

We'll see.

Costuming update!

I got my corset in the mail while I was gone. It's FABULOUS.

I'll need help getting laced into it for a real trial, but I think it's just the right size if I lose the 10 lbs I want to before CON.

Score!

Found a shirt pattern for my costume!

http://www.simplicity.com/p-2370-misses-tops.aspx

I'll probably end up mix and matching elements, but that is just about perfect. I'm super excited.

Now I just need to decide exactly what I want to do on the bottom half.

Change of plan!

So I decided on a gunslinger costume for CON*vergence this year, but I fear that may infringe a bit too much on J's black hat concept.

So I think I'm leaning more towards undertaker. Long black skirt, black corset, white shirt with maybe some pintucking detail or something, black armbands....

Second verse same as the first...

Every year I pledge to post more, but every year, my innate laziness gets the best of me.

The issue is that I lead a pretty laid back life. I go to work, I read fic, I sometimes write fic, I go to concerts, I play Rock Band with my friends...

Pretty boring.

The most exciting things in my life currently are Dragon Age and writing epistolary fic for Fireball with [profile] rue_quercus.

Crazy time at the ranch, as per usual. *snerk*

So, yeah. I've been playing Dragon Age: Origins for the past few days.

I'm not much of a gamer, but ho shit I love this game. I'mma probably have to buy Dragon Age 2 when I'm done.

Do one of you have my size 5 bamboo DPN's? I can't find them anywhere and vaguely remember lending knitting needles to... someone a long time ago?

I really should have bookmarked this...

Sometime around the holidays, someone on my flist posted a bunch of reviews of ebooks they'd been reading. One was some ridonk gay werewolf thing that sounded intriguing to me.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Passwords all changed, so it should be taken care of.

Driving back from my mom's tonight, I glanced over at a stop sign and realized the house on the corner had, in their bay window, the leg lamp from "A Christmas Story."

I nearly crashed laughing.

Title: But This Hour
Author: carleton97
Fandom: bandslash/AI8
Rating: NC17
Wordcount: ~15K
Summary: When Adam needs a new sound engineer in the middle of his tour, events conspire to bring Bob Bryar to his door.

Disclaimer: Not mine, never were. Also? DON'T GOOGLE YOURSELF.

Notes: Um, random pairing is random? This is the result of the interview Adam did with... Parade (I think) forever ago taking about running into MCR in the studio and how much he loved them. That spurred the thought in me about Bob being a secret fan since he has been known to love him some pop music. Since there isn't necessarily a lot of crossover between fandoms, I've got a little information and a couple of links for your perusal.

Adam for bandslashers: What do you mean, you don't know who Adam Lambert is? El Glamberto was the runner-up in the 8th season of American Idol. He is a tall, fabulous drink of water with sparkles to spare. Here is a primer that's about a year old, but pretty comprehensive up to his tour shenanigans from the past year: http://bexless.livejournal.com/814227.html

Bob for Idol slashers: Bob Bryar was the drummer for My Chemical Romance from 2005 - 2010. Prior to that he was a sound engineer. He is hella hot and a little goofy. His departure from the band earlier this year created bad feelings in some fans who believe the bulk of MCR handled it poorly and disingenuously, but that is neither here nor there. Here is a bit of a pictorial primer showing the many faces of Bob: http://beachsidebingo.livejournal.com/144698.html

Happiness, not in another place but this place...not for another hour )

Beta reader?

I am *this* close to finishing my Bob/Adam story and will soon be needing some beta work done.

I will, of course, be taking advantage of my regular stable of betas, but I'd like a fresh set of eyes for this one. I have an issue with commas and dropping words, but I'm generally pretty solid grammatically, so mostly it would be for tone and logical progression. I sometimes let my enthusiasm override my better judgment when it comes to logic in my stories.

So, if you have any interest in beta-ing about 15K words of Bob Bryar/Adam Lambert RPF porno, let me know!
