I'm such an amazing dork

So I'm listening to Satellite Rides, the Old 97's CD. I really love the song 'Weightless' except everytime I hear it, it makes me want to hit something because of this concept:

"An awful lot like outer space
Where everything is weightless, yeah
Even heavy things are weightless, yeah
Don't take up any space at all."

It bothers me way more than it should that Rhett Miller doesn't bother to differentiate between things which are heavy (using weight as a measure) and things which are massive (using space as a measure) take up a lot of space (using volume as a measure). They really aren't the same thing at all and maybe I should stop reading things like The Elegant Universe as pleasure reading.

*edited to fix stupid elementary physics mistake.

Well artistic license aside, now that's going to bug me too. Just like the beginning of PoA is going to bug me now because my mother just finished reading it and what does she say about it? "This doesn't make any sense. Harry said he got on his aunt's bad side by stepping on her dog's tail. Bulldogs don't have tails. Isn't anyone editing this stuff?"

Heh. She liked Remus very much, though. When I said he's not really in book 4 she said, and I quote, "That figures". I don't have the heart to spoil her for book 5, but I'll be interested to see if she picks up the slash or not. I keep trying to corrupt her but it's not really taking.

Yeah, so I'm a total spaz and totally replied to this at first as if you were Ru. I don't know why. I saw your name and icon. Maybe I was thinking of her.

Anyway, my mom is weird about the slash. On the one hand, she loves to watch QAF. On the other, she referred to Lynn Flewelling's Nightrunner books as 'gay porn.' Ironically, there's not one graphic scene in the books.

Eh, I missed the first response so it's all good. I think the slash makes my mom a little nervous sometimes, but mostly she's cool with it. The word 'fag' flew out of my father's mouth the other day, though, which shocked me so much coming from him that I was, for once in my life, rendered appallingly speechless. I don't recall ever hearing him say something like that in such an ugly way. It was weird.
