genfic

why?

That's my reaction to the WaT_allfic list at yahoogroups.

I'm totally broken.

I don't understand gen fic either. The show does a good enough job with cases and drama, I don't need to read hamfisted attempts at it on fic lists.

I get your point. The best fic, in my mind, is written about things/issues that are never going to be explored in the show...hence people writing the fic.

Though, from what I gathered from skimming a few gen WaT fics, don't some people use them to explore a Danny/Martin friendship? While that's not exactly what I'd prefer (slash, please!), it's better than them just trying their hand at writing a case file.

I don't know, is it? I haven't actually read any, I was just making assumptions. I'm kind of bad about that sometimes. I'll have to look into the pre-slash content of the gen list. But not right now. Right now I'm going to stop spamming other people's journals and go to bed.

Well, I skimmed a few of them, and that is a theme that I noticed. Of course, that doesn't mean that the rest of the story was any good. And with friendship fics, I so often end up getting annoyed because it's like pre-slash without the delivery and with some bad het (or bad allusions to it) thrown in. I'm not even going to get started on smarm.
