I'm just going to say it...

I hate U2.

This wasn't always the case, but these days, I just can't stand them. I feel like they haven't done anything important musically since... God, The Joshua Tree?

And if I have to see Bono's smug face at one more political function I'm going to snap.

That one South Park episode about how Bono was actually a giant piece of crap was brilliant.

In other news, my [livejournal.com profile] bandombigbang story is hovering at about 16K words with about 6 scenes to finish for the first draft - two of them significant.

Also, I am in desperate need of a title. I can't keep calling this "The Bob Bryar Secret Baby Project."

I'm sensing an all-nighter on Friday.

Um. I don't hate U2, but I've never thought they were all that special either.

Not to rub salt into the writing wound (or whatever...I'm still on sleep dep) but do you still need beta help from me? Because I can totally do that. Plus, I kind of like "The Bob Bryar Secret Baby Project." Maybe if you called it TBBSBP? Okay, not really. I find that titles are either magnificently easy or like pulling teeth.

I'm just having a ragey time with U2 lately since it seems like every time I turn on the radio they're playing on at least two stations.

I would love some beta support! but not for this first draft. This is all just getting 20K words done for Saturday. Once that's accomplished, I'll do some editing of my own (and probably add a few scenes I know I won't have time to finish) then send it on.

You will finish!! And then we will toast our speed-writing success on Saturday night with some kind of adult beverage.

I will finish! I give myself no other option!

I just having problems making myself move past the 'omg, this is CRAPPY and needs fixing!' thing.

I know, that was hard! But, you know, I went back and read it all yesterday, and aside from the end, it doesn't suck quite as hard as I'd feared! So, I bet yours will turn out the same.

I lose perspective on my stories for like 3 months after they're done.

I can't keep calling this "The Bob Bryar Secret Baby Project." And why not? It sums up everything I need to know and love about the fic.

Also, I hear you about losing perspective and hating your own fic after it's done. I am usually convinced that every single thing I write is complete trash, my betas always have to talk me off a ledge.

[identity profile] carleton97.livejournal.com 2008-05-08 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, if I don't get seriously inspired, that's going to stay the title, complete ridonk notwithstanding. Heh.

I'm just trying to put blinders on and power through at this point. Going down any other path only ends in disaster and tears.

The worst part for me is that my co-author is out of town right now and so we agreed that I would finish the scenes and then she would do as she pleased after the rough draft is submitted. Of course, I'm finishing these scenes thinking this is horrible and my cat could write better. Whatever, the scenes just need to be done, they don't have to be perfect.

I'm normally a one/one point five draft writer, so this is KILLING me, leaving things un-fixed. I'm keeping a running tally of scenes to add/scenes to fix/scenes to BURY.
